Curcumin is a fat-soluble compound and, like other fat-soluble nutrients, needs to go through a number of steps prior to its absorption. They are also fully soluble in water and small enough to support delivery of curcumin to the intestinal wall. There, the micelles break apart facilitating efficient absorption of curcumin.
