Orhomol Vision AMD
Orthomol Vision AMD is a food for special medical purposes. Orthomol Vision AMD for the dietary management of age-related eye diseases such as age-related macular degeneration or age-related cataract.
Vision is our most important sensory perception. We perceive roughly 70% of all messages from the environment through our eyes. Hardly any other sensory organ is as important for communication and quality of life.
Our eye is a highly complex system. No camera will ever be able to accomplish what our eyes have to do every single day: distinguish between bright and dark, perceive color, create spatial contrasts and in a split-second adapt to various distances and lighting conditions. Often we become aware of the importance of our eyes only when there is something wrong with our vision. Some 40 million Germans have problems with their eyes; of the 60-plus population almost everybody needs glasses.
Very few of us ever think about vision when we are young, but as we grow older letters may first suddenly become blurred and then may even be missing in the middle of a text. Such phenomena should not be accepted as “normal” deficiencies that accompany old age as people suffering from age-related macula degeneration (AMD) report exactly these symptoms at the onset of the disease. Glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy (disease of the retina caused by diabetes) are other eye diseases that may damage the visual nerve and/or the retina. Therefore regular checks by the ophthalmologist are indispensable. But also by taking good care of our visual organ and eating healthy food, we can make an important contribution to the quality of our vision.
In addition to drug therapy for AMD, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy, complementary dietary treatment with the appropriate Orthomol products is possible: Orthomol Vision AMD for people with age-related macula degeneration or cataracts, Orthomol AMD extra for people with advanced age-related macula degeneration, Orthomol Glaukom for the dietary management of glaucoma, and Orthomol Diabet for people with diabetic microangiopathies, e.g. diabetic retinopathy.
